We love weekend volunteer sessions where everyone can come along and help out improving their local nature reserve.
The primary focus of the day will be beginning construction of our brand new (as yet unnamed) Bug Hotel creating an array of habitat for all sorts of different kinds of creepy crawlies.
We will be scavenging the nature reserve looking for a variety of different materials we can use which would be suitable to provide our invertebrate friends with a nice new home.
This should hopefully be a fun event suitable for all ages.
Depending on numbers, and how much progress we make with the bug hotel we might have time to do some other conservation tasks around the nature reserve too.
We’ll be meeting at 10am outside the Berrylands Scout Hut on Stirling Walk for a welcome brief before heading into the nature reserve.
The session will run until 2pm, but if you can’t make the whole day any time you can spare to help would be appreciated, or even just stop by briefly to say hello.
As usual biscuits and warm drinks will be provided, but please make sure to wear weather appropriate clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty, and some sturdy footwear.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome, but we do ask that those under 14 are accompanied by an adult. Those aged 14-18 may volunteer alone, with parental consent forms to be completed on the day.
If you have any question about the session, or volunteering with the friends group in general then please drop us an email to: berrylandsnr@gmail.com
Hope you can join us.
